A Grand Day Out in Wales

That looks like a great day with some stunning scenery.

I'm booked in for a few days tour in North Wales with a group of mates soon - I hope I get weather like that!
Don’t want to put a downer on your plans Iain but my daughter went to university in Wales. We visited regularly over a four year period and it rained every single time. Mind you everywhere is emerald green and the scenery is beautiful. Just don’t forget to take your waterproofs.

I have lived here for years ,the only place to avoid is Capel Curig as it has a weather station there that records the bleakest of weather.Porthmadog usually records some of warmest weather in the uk. :D

My daughter was in Lampeter. I think we must just have been unlucky but every time we went it poured. A few times we stayed over for a few days but even in the Summer it was the same We concluded the local farmers weren’t tanned but had gone rusty. :D

Not a problem Ian - I know what to expect!

I spent 2 weeks at a Scout camp in Llanwrst in the early 70s and it didn't rain once, but a few years later we had a family holidy in Prestatyn and it rained every day. Luckily we were staying at Pontins so could escape the worst of it.

Now I come to think of it I've never been to North Wales since so I'm looking forward to it whatever the weater. :)

I’m sure you will have a great time. Some excellent roads to drive with beautiful scenery and of course in the company of some good mates.

Looks fabulous! Do you have any .gpx or saved maps? We're off to Wales for a few days in June staying in Bangor, so looking for suggestions.
If you PM me your email address I'll gladly share the route with you. I have it in 3 sections on Google Maps
That would be great! - Will send you the details.

If your staying in Bangor this is a cracking route. Plenty of scenic places to stop and great driving roads.

Or for just pure unadulterated 'driving pleasure' then take the B4391 east from Ffestiniog for 8 miles to its intersection with the A4212. Turn around in the very handy lay-by and do it all in the opposite direction :D Turn around, repeat....ad infinitum
Surely one of the finest roads in the UK ? :driving:
Totally agree best roads around, remember us doing this think 3 years ago :driving:
