A Good Day Yesterday.

As most of you regulars know, yesterday I fixed the strut problem on the Z, and you know that I had to fix some of the plastic air panels damaged from the last owner.

Now with that fixed and a new wheel alignment, the car handles much better than before. Plus, my IPOD adapter came in yesterday. So I installed that also...

The only downside to the whole day, was that I found how the former owner broke all those plastic air panels underneath, because he ran the end of the front spoiler in to a curb or something. There is a lot of unrepairable damage to the bumper guard/fascia. So, I am also looking to replace, sometime in the future, the front. Don't know if I want to keep it stock or get a face-lift. Time will tell. I am sure I will ask for, and get, a lot of input on this subject from the forum....

All in all, with everything being equal, it was a good day.... THE BEAST LIVES..................   :driving: :driving:

Nice... and you did all this prior to the Spring. I bet you can't wait to toss her around once the weather's hotter.

Go on - you know you want to do it.....

Yeah, but on the facelift how easy is it to switch the fogs? Also, what is the cost of the new fogs and bumper, compared to say the Aero bumper for an 03 sport model? (I caught my bumper on a curve, some decent damage that doesn't hide well at all.

The fogs are a direct switch with the same wires, bulbholder and close enough to easily fit the same leads. I purchased straight from BMW UK at I think at £120 the pair. US would be way cheaper.

All you need is the side reflectors and a few of the stamped nuts to lock them on. Roundel switches straight over as do healamp washers and grills.

Number plate holder is a different design, but I modiofied mine anyway for a small er number plate.

Fit is a direct bolt in on no modification at all.

Bumper is a common ebay item as people upgrade to M designs. Mine was a few months old and cost virtually nothing. Buddy sprayed it up.

If you ever traded in you could retrofit the original in less than 30 minutes.

A couple of project photos for you then:

Front off to see the underneath - note I have the same sort of lower tray damage leading lip damage that you mentioned from no doubt a kerb impact by a former owner.

First test fit (just 'cos I'd hate to get it wrong)

and all ready - bar the respray. (note how good the new front condition is. It has more shine than the car and cost if I recall £40/$80)

Only bit I forgot to mention is that I have headlamp washers so I had to cut to outlet holes below the light. The jet fixing are moulded on all fronts even without jets fitted.
