A funny thing happened on the way home yesterday

As you may have seen in the gallery, I went for a drive yesterday to get some pics... On the way home I was passing Menwith Hill, the US listening post, located in North Yorkshire. Anyway, I thought it would be cool to get their radomes as a backdrop for my car... the police had different ideas!

I got the whole speech about they are "protected by the official secrets act" etc... honestly, I think they are going a litle over the top. If I was a spy and wanted pics of these things I'm quite sure I wouldn't be in an open top Z4, and I'm also quite sure I would've got my pics

Here's a pic of what I was trying to get a photo of (not my pic)

Military is cracking down quite hard on any photography in and around installations due to terrorist threats. If you would really like a picture of the area, you can contact the installation Affairs Officer and they may allow it (pics will be thoroughly scrutinized of course!)
It would probably be more of a pain in the arse than it is worth. I would rather just see rolling hills and hooters in the pic anyway

hehe, yeah.... was wondering what that black helicopter was doing over my house this morning! :?

Phase I... You're under surveillance... :spy:

That's totally outrageous. Taking photos of your car is NOT illegal.

I would have forced the issue and taken a shot, because as far as I'm aware, you cannot be stopped from taking photos on public roads/property.

To$$ers

I agree with Giles. This is BS. It's the old "we are under danger and we must protect ourselves" story. "We must give up some of our freedoms to protect us from the Jews/Muslims (please insert you most hated group here) etc."

The Nazi's used this technique in WWII.

Sounds a bit "Area 51" to me, how long were you there before they spotted you and came over? How close can you actually get to the domes?
