All instructions on roof motor replacements such as Shipkillers excellent guide only explain how to extract the roof etc. As far as i know there is no definitive guide on how to re install the roof. So after doing my own 5 times
i just want to share a few pointers to help anyone considering tackling theirs.
1) Fully protect paintwork around where the hoop will go back into the body/trunk.
2) Lift the roof fully open and flat and carefully mackle the hoop into the trunk area. Then position the posts into there anchor points making sure the motor housing is sitting in its well comfortably (the well is shaped as to accommodate the housings shape.)
3) Now using the boden cable, pull the roof up so it is 1/2 closed and lock into place by re seating the boden. Now go into the trunk and make sure the hoop is resting in its brackets on both sides.
4) Push the weather stripping back into the trunk rim.
5) Now fully close roof (no need to lock down) Now, the holes will be lined up for screwing bolts back into the A pillars and tighten the anchor bolts.
6) At this point you could re-connect wires and tidy cockpit area or, making sure weather strip around trunk rim is firmly in place, this is important, as this insures the holes line up ready for re attaching the hoop.) Bolt the hoop back in.
Apart from a few bits to re attach around the top of the posts thats it.
Hope it helps someone, thanks for reading, tug.
