A dummies guide to updating the Sat nav?

Can anybody help me?

I have trawled through all of the threads, but still non the wiser!!

I have a 2005 54 plate 3.0, it has the 2005 disc with the sat nav, I want to update the software to allow 3D, not to bothered about updating the road maps yet

I followed the link on the how to, downoaded the file, unpacked it which gave me some files and folders, wrote those to a DVD, but my sat nav did not recognise the disc.

has anybody succesfully updated their software who could give me some advice please?

I have done it. Have you checked what software version you currently have? the newest version is 32 I think...

I copied the files to a normal cd (not a dvd), stuck it in, and everything happened automatically.

There isn't a lot of info on this forum, but go to the x5 forum (they have the same sat nav) and there is a heap of info on there + they have the software on a few links you can just download and copy to a disc.

As above use a CD-R disc instead of a DVD-R, I found the xoutpost forum useful for this kind of thing too.

DVD does not work indeed.

Process is fully automatic. You still need to "set" the 3d aspect in the hidden function afterwards though.

make sure you burn the disc at single speed also.
