A different tyre question

Earlier today I was following a pre facelift Z4 the same as mine and it struck me how narrow the tyres were. They didnt look at all sporty and seemed to be well within the wheel arches. My wheels seem to be much beefier and in my view fill the wheel arches. They dont have spacers fitted as I have removed all wheels for maintenance purposes. The tyre sizes on my 2.5 car are:
Front Dunlop SP Sport 225/40 ZR18
Rear Dunlop SP Sport 255/35 R18
I believe the rims are Eclipsoid as the person who sold me the car was a bit ethusiatic about maintaining the condition of the wheels and I have kept them pristine as well. Can anyone tell me whether my tyres are standard or different in any way. Thanks

Yours are standard for 18" rims.

The pre facelift at least also came with 16 and 17" rims depending on engine, neither of which are staggered so the rears will be a good bit thinner.

In honesty, 255 wide rears are massive overkill for 230bhp, but they do reduce oversteer significantly hence why they're likely used.

Thanks for that I agree the rears are very wide but do look nice, especially when compared to the car I was following. Wish I did have 230 bhp, this was probably the 3 litre.

Yes, 231bhp was the pre-facelift 3.0i so being a 2.5i yours is 192bhp.

Still my nephew has an E46 325i Sport with the same engine and MV2 wheels with the same tyre sizes as yours - it's not an unusual combination on BMWs of that era.

Ellipsoids are a lovely looking wheel, and getting quite sought after.
