A couple (well 3 actually) questions........

Hi guys, I have had my Z4 for about a month now and after a rather odd start to my ownership I am really enjoying the car apart from the run-flats! Anyway my questions

1. Is there any way to turn of the bonging noise when the car is put into reverse? It does my head in! :headbang:
2. I have a fair amount of wind noise (hood up) at the top of the windows and also if I hose the car down sometimes a little bead of water finds its way to the inside of the window, is this normal?
3. My car has the 3.0l 231bhp engine. I have read about "chips" that take the power to 250bhp for about £300. Has anyone done this and did it make the car feel any quicker or improve fuel economy?

Any answers greatfully recieved! :)

i dont think you can turn the reversing sensors off if thats what your on about, as for the rain and wind noise you could have a perished seal. best option for "tuning" the car is a remap not a chip try http://www.e-maps.co.uk/ simon remapped my 3 litre dont expect massive hp gains but it does improve low down pick up the engine revs a lot easier the top speed limiter is removed and it removes flat spots. Simon from emaps is very widely respected in remapping bmws and vw audis especially. If you pose the question on www.bmwland.co.uk about remapping i dont think anyone has a bad word to say about his work!

I guess he means the parking sensors.

I don't mean the parking sensors! As soon as you engage reverse the car makes a bonging noise as if to let you know that you're in reverse and it's bloody annoying! As if i wouldn't know I put the car into reverse!

Knew I'd read it somewhere - check out this thread

Great! Thanks for that one problem solved! :D

Now any thoughts on the wind noise the rubbers are perfect and I had the windows reset! It can't be normal to have a little leak from the top of the window? The dealer I bought it from said "they all do that sir"!

The best suggestion here is to make sure you always run it on Optimax/99 - it will run far smoother. Not convinced about the chip tuning TBH.

Anyone have any pointers for installing sheepskin seat covers in my Z3? I spent an hour trying to install ONE,but am not able to get it secured. In addition, supposedly custom fit, but it fits OVER by seat controls on sides of each seat! They look nice, feel nicer, but don't work at all if I can't get them firmly in place. All suggestions for installation are welcome. I have been feeling around under the seat and am not finding any places to hook to! Argh, this is frustrating me no end!

I suggest to replace your car for a coupe. :)

Actually, I'd like to hear what people say about this too... I've recently noticed exactly what you've described. Higher than normal wind noise from the passenger side and a minor leak.

The rubber looks ok, but is there anything I can use to treat it to make sure it's as soft and grippy as possible?
