A couple aftermarket exhaust questions

Here I go asking more annoying questions but anyways. A buddy told me about a muffler/brake shop here that could get me a flowmaster exhaust installed for around $150 (I doubt it'd come out that cheap for me). This piqued my interest as I would like a deeper sound and am not that concerned about performance gains. So which part would they be changing? I'm assuming it's just the muffler....which is which part on the car? Is that right before the exhaust tips, or the nice cylindrical part farther up the pipes?
Would this be an ok upgrade or is there a chance there might not be enough back pressure or somesuch thing with the flowmaster? Keep in mind I'm not sure what particular model or pipe inches would be put on as I'm still not sure I want to move forward with this.

The Flowmaster will sound great. It's just a muffler replacement (the big silver can at the back), they will leave the resonator in place (the long tubular thingy way up to the front) Don't worry about back pressure loss. I removed my muffler completely 5 years ago (mufflectomy), and no ill effects have been noted. Maybe a "little" less low-end torque, but not really noticeable. Sounds really good though!

KK, tanks for the info....provided I have enough change I may just be one of the first Z4's with a flowmaster

Personally I like the Magnaflow on the Z4.

Yeah I was considering Magnaflow, but was wanting to stick with flowmaster....I have flowmasters on my small truck and they sound great!

i bought all of the parts (and still have them under my bed) for that magnaflow setup.

i took them to a muffler shop to have them installed and there is literally NO WAY to fit the muffler up under the body without wailing on the heat shields where the front resonator is... i'm not saying it can't be done, but you've got to find a muffler that is only 8" or so inches wide....

anyway, i gave up... i'm saving my money for something that will fit. *sigh*
