991 911 Turbo vert vs GTR

Is it really that surprising when you consider the power outputs are almost equal, they both have 4wd, and the Porsche weighs almost 25% less (2.2 vs 1.7 tonnes).

I didn't expect that at all, but I suppose the weight advantage has always been the 911`s trump car in either guise when compared to the GTR...it looks as thought if I ever do manage to get my hands on a GTR it needs to be played with to make it quicker as I wouldn't be happy if I was turned over by a 911 rag top!

What was even more surprising is this is the standard turbo... Not an S! The S is quite a bit more powerful!

I know Tom at first I thought it was the S but in all fairness they are stunning figures that it has delivered for the normal Turbo and the way it gets off the line is immense...I am genuinely blown away at how good that 911 is

I think I am just used to the GTR blitzing everything in its path usually in vids and I thought the newer GTR`s did 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds but as that vid shows they don't deliver the booked figures so it seems.

Well this is my argument with the Turbo I think its a brilliant car, they really seem to have turned the 991 turbo around as its renowned as a one trick pony being quick in a straight line, its had nothing but positive reviews compared to the 997. If you want a road car that is stupidly fast in a straight line and a lardy arse on a track its a good option. There are a few things missing from the 911 like induction noise but all turbo cars have that missing.

Good upgrade from the 997 we went and had a test drive in one and were blown away with it, tested an M6 afterward and was equally impressed with it but it felt like a barge in comparison.

Both sets of figures are stunning on paper, but shocked at the physical gap that the porsche had in the end. They obviously need to do a best of three launches with both drivers swapping cars...

Has the porsche got one more cog in the box though? With the lightening fast twin clutch changes swapping cogs is no longer a disadvantage, which would explain the porsche's getaway plus less weight...

Incredible to think what the TurboS will do

What exactly is the point to two cars racing from 0 to any speed? :fuelfire:

I'm afraid it's something I've never got. :o

a battle for "man points", total supremacy and alpha male status.

What more could you want?

On the old car magazines they used to do a stat for 50-70 or was it 40-70 to simulate real world overtaking, that is probably more relevant

Or when you are like me and not very good in the corners its nice to indulge in some straight line fun when I get the chance...well I did when I had a fast car! :D

This could be why I don't get it. I love going around corners too much. :driving:
