hi folks just had day out at elvert airfield in york . Went to drive a Ferrari Stradale and a Lamborghini Murcielago, what a contrast the two cars are, both very very fast, reving both to over 8000 , man what a noise addictive or what, but it was no contest Ferrari won hands down ,the reasons being it was nimble in the turns and it had carbon fibre brakes worth every penny .It shed speed like you would not believe .The lambo felt faster in a straight line 550 BHP but the brakes were rubbish in comparison and it does not like bends of any sort .All in a great day out .List of cars on offer were Ferraris,R8 ,Aston Martin DBS,Lambos, Mucielago, gallardo,Ariel Atom.Caterhams.One regret you only get 4 laps in each car just getting into it when its all over .Got the Z4 3.0se out, man its feeling a bit slow now !!!

I drove a Ferrari 360 CS on a 4 lap thing at Silverstone too, it killed me having to get out after 4 laps as I was just getting going. Two things that stand out in my memory were how noisy the brakes were and how little head room there was when wearing a crash helmet!

I drove the LP640 and 360 CS there, the Ferrari was great, fantastic car, so light, open, and driveable, feelsome. Stunning.

The LP640 was a bit turd in comparison, big, cramped, crap visibility, but clearly had the grunt for straight line antics :)

For some reason though they were tight on rpm when I was there, 8000rpm in the Ferrari and about 5000rpm in the LP640... not so bad in the Ferrari, but the LP640 experience was ruined a bit because of that.

Not sure why.

Sounds like you had free reign to enjoy the cars, which is essential at the cost of the event!

Drove the 360 and an Exige S. S is actually quicker but did not feel it. As y'all have said you have to stop just as you are getting the hang of it...

They actively encouraged me to put my foot down

Too much all said and done :(

£300 for 8 laps, 4 in the F360 CS and 4 in the LP640.

I'd prefer to spend about £900 on a day, on the road, in about 6 different cars, from DB9, R8, 911 Turbo, Bentley CGT etc... and try them out. Only downside is the huge excess (£2500 iirc) if you dink one :o

Forgotten who operate that one, but they had a write up in Performance Car magazine I think. I'd rate them as better value for money. Neither of the above F360CS or LP640 felt that fast on a track, I rekon the Atom and Caterham would provide more thrills at half the price!

AJZ4London - I went on that exact same experience last sunday, 4 laps really isnt enough but I have to say the car I was most impressed with was the lotus, even had a little wiggle from the back end turning in which was pretty sweet as it made you feel on the limit - then after the ferrari the stig takes you back out in the lotus and you realise you werent not by a long way

The 360 I thought felt like a really big car, and they wont even let you left foot brake which I think is more natural to do in a semi automatic car? the instructor in that too I think is much too nervous - but to be fair I suppose he has to be cos it is a 400bhp car and not all drivers are equal with already a reasonable idea of speed, braking and turn in points, I do a fair bit of driving and it is scary how bad some drivers really are.

In contrast it was a completely different experience than when I went round the full gp circuit at trax 2007 where you get a bit of a briefing then everyone forgets all of it and goes berserk out on track lool but I suppose they dont really care so much then cos its your own car if you crash
