Used to love modding my cars but as I got older and purchased newer models civic type R and 2 GTI’s I never bothered
Got myself my Z4 and I’ve fallen straight back into it again and loving it
Wrapped the roof and mirrors black
Stage 1 remap
And just got the alloys now in gunmetal grey and calipers done
think that’s it for now………unless I put a CarPlay system in 👍🏼

Looking good 👍
I’ve just put mr12volt mmi in mine and it definitely brings the Zed more up to date

I can concur with your journey of not modding newer cars, for me it’s likely due to working in the OEM car world for most of my life.

However same as you again since buying mine this day 1 year ago I’ve a few subtle “updates”, liking your though mr :)

+1 for a Mr12Volt too

In regard to a new unit
I’ve Been quoted £650 to fit new Android car play unit which replaces the current one

Anyone had one fitted in northwest and can recommend anyone - the quoted unit isn’t touch screen but does include fitting with the option of a reversing camera
Just feel it’s a bit high without a touchscreen but I could be a mile away and the price is bob on

if it isnt touch screen then you really get nothing that the mmi box gives you for far less cash

Cheers
Prob not everyone’s cup of tea
But always like to out my own individual stamp on my cars
As has been said - ‘as long as I like it that’s all that matters’ and I do :-)

Which MMI box is it?

Most of them use your existing iDrive screen (hence none will have touchscreen). The best IMHO righ tnow is the mr12volt, that costs about £350, plus about 2 to 3 hours fitting.

There are cheaper ones out there - but now the mr12volt exists, I would stick with that.
