Hi all, I am thinking about getting a new X3 or X5 so I thought I would just see if its worth selling my Z4 or just waiting another year and handing it back to BMW.

Z4Cafter.jpg

1st Registered: November 2008 - 58 Plate, 37,500 miles (still being driven so will rise)

I am the second owner having covered 10,300miles in 18 months.

Full BMW Service History, Next service due is an oil service in
10,000miles/Nov 2013 - whichever is soonest.

Has had the uprated cylinder head installed under BMW warranty (all paperwork supplied) so complete peace of mind about the potential HVA issue these engines can suffer from.

Currently under BMW extended warranty until Nov 2012 (Named component)

MOT: Nov 2012, Tax: June 2013 (Just taxed for 12 months)

Bridgestone runflats all round: 6mm on front tyres, 4mm on rear tyres

Colour: Montego Blue
Leather: Oregon Pearl Grey
Options: PDC, Heated seats, 108 Alloys, Bluetooth, MFSW, storage, piano black wood trim
Manual Gearbox

Overall the car is in good condition. Wear to the drivers side seat bolster, Nearside front alloy has some curbing, 3mm stone chip on offside wing.

Any ideas on value?

Cheers

Andy

I have a feeling you'll be better off handing it back or at least get the use out of it for the next 10-11 months, then advertise it at that time for handback figure plus £1000 on a 'no offers' basis - I am assuming your GFV is around 9k.

As a 58 I'd say asking price at £13,500 (only because the mileage is a tad high). There are plenty of high milers at 9-10k. Low mileage 06/07s at 11-12k.

I think this should be worth the extra few quid as its one of the last..

Just check my contract, GFV for June 2013 is £9800  its not going to be worth anything like that then - I bet some dealers would offer less than that now.

+1 think you might be better waiting and see what you can get at the time? Just my tuppence

Hang on to it, get the use out of it. Even if it's just used as a 'weekend' car after you get your X3/X5.

The coupe sells for between 9-13k, given the spec I'd be pricing it at 10.5 for a quick sale.

Manual?

21 for sale on ph, average asking price of c£11.5k, take out the 2 roadsters listed incorrectly, the one bought off here for £7k in a 'firesale' a month or so back, and now relisted genuinely at £8.7k, and a write off, that ups average to around £12.5k asking...

even given optimistic asking prices i think someone would snap a hand off at £10.5k for a 58 plate!!

unless you have sold a few and know that sale price : asking price ratio is pretty low, in which case i bow to your greater knowledge. :)

I knew some smart arse would spot that lol :P

Its probably water from washing but it could well be an oil stain from my old Rx-8, put it in the top and it used to come straight out the bottom lol

Its a manual gearbox, also has the piano black wood which I forgot to mention.

If I were to list it on autotrader for £10.5k, it would be the 6th cheapest out of 62 cars....and it would be among cars with twice the mileage and 1-2 years older.

Cheapest 58 plate with less than 40k miles is £16,750 (much higher spec than mine) and its sold already.

Cheapest 57 plate with less than 40k miles is £13,995.

I know these may be unrealistic asking prices so maybe £10.5k isnt so daft for a quick sale. But since I`m in no rush, If I cant get £13.5k for it I'll be staying with me for another year ..... which aint such a bad thing :driving:

Problem solved - bought a Honda HRV as a runabout when I need extra space. Z4 is staying.

Added bonus is that 100bhp vs 260bhp means the Z4 feels like a rocket ship again as I am always recalibrating myself to the power :driving:

If its any help I just sold my 57 plate, 52000 miles for £13850. It did have CSL's and coilovers on mind you but would have sold for £13K without them. Mine was fully loaded though, sat nav, folding mirrors DSP etc etc.

Thanks, that is useful to know.

Sounds like I was offered a fair price. Private I might get a bit more but maybe not worth the hassel for an extra £500-£750.
