4x4 vs 206

Minor in the scheme of things but still a PITA. The boot wont open so i suspect floorpan damage too. given the car is worth £17-1800 i suspect they'll write it off.

Daughter undamaged but very pissed off. She was stationary, rear ended by a 50yr old woman driving a 4x4 of some description who was by all accounts fairly rude to daughter with comments like "well my car's damaged too"

At least she apologised to her, eventually. Now for the insurance embuggerance.

:( flipping eck Stu.
Exact same thing happened to my son, the day after he passed his driving test. Escort van rear ended his C1 and the van came off worse luckily for us.

AND - For the next five years at insurance renewal time you have to answer that:- "Any accidents during the last five years?" Some load the policy as well even if no blame.

Common car... If the floor pan is not knackered you might be able to get a new tailgate from a breaker ?

Glad your daughter is ok

should be a relatively inexpensive fix considering there are so many 206s in scrapyards. Im glad your daughter wasnt hurt

It's an insurance job against the other driver so the bodyshop will milk it for all it's worth. I just checked it properly and its warped. The nearside rear wing has a kink in it and the nearside rear door has almost no clearance compared with about 5mm on the offside. The rear bumper has minor damage too. I look forward to haggling over the value. :headbang:

Teddy (she calls it that because it's a little growly diesel that sounds like a childs teddy bear noise) is probably not for the road much longer :(

Daughters neck is sore but we'll see how it is tomorrow. I'm not encouraging frivolous whiplash claims.

What a total PITA

Sorry to hear this, Stuart, glad your daughter's OK. Was rear-ended last year when stationary (4x4, driving too fast for conditions and the road, hit a focus and pushed it into the back of the wife's Passat) - less damage than yours, but still a complete PITA to deal with. Also, despite being a 'no fault claim', it has pushed the premiums up slightly

I was rear ended a few weeks ago whilst stationary, I too am expecting slightly elevated insurance renewal premiums even though it wasn't my fault. Just glad your daughter is okay, cars are only pieces of metal that can be easily fixed or replaced, however daughters aren't.

Hope you get it all sorted out quickly.

I'm like many on here so pleased to hear you're not visiting your daughter in hospital, though get those neck pains checked out.

As for now having a claim, recommend she (we'll u dad) claim her insurance excess back from the other parties insurance Company if it's totally the 4x4's fault. It's important because if there's any split fault, the other Ins Co will NEVER pay it, so by substantiating this evidence doesn't remove what happened, but certainly reduces the effect on future premiums.
