40% off for old BMWs at dealers?

A friend of ours, who has a lovely 8 year old 7 series, says he was offered a 40% discount on parts & labour due to the age of his car at a BMW dealer (not his usual dealer) and they say they always offer this. Apparently only certain dealers do this.

Has anyone heard of this / used it?

Heard of similar. Lower servicing costs for older cars. Shows the utter rip off of the full prices. They still make profit on the discounted deals - and know that older car owners are more likely to shop around, rather than the new car owners that they have by the short and curries and they try to squeeze every penny out of.

You might have guessed I don't have much brand or shop loyalty. I go with who I trust, and that most definitely is not main dealers.

that seems reasonable, check service only £60 at my local dealer

At 40% off the dealer is only now double the price of any other (mostly better) independent garage. Bargain!
