4 wheel alignment question after mods

Hi all,

Can anyone please advise what numbers I should be setting my car to for 4 wheel alignment after fitting eibach sports springs and 19 inch wheels running 265 rears 225 fronts.

Do I stay the same as factory settings or need to change?

Car is mainly used for road use.

E85 3.0i manual.

This setup worked for me, I have zero tramlining and zero bump steer, very neutral handling, tail out in the wet but it takes a hefty right foot to do so. I did a lot of reading around setup and settled on similar settings to z4m. The standard setup is, in my opinion, a dogs dinner, far too much rear camber and way too much toe in, the toe in will wear the inner edges of the tyres, camber much less so.
Front 1.20 camber, total toe in 0.04
Rear 1.50 camber, total toe in 0.08.

Don't go less than 0.04 on the front, due to the design of the front suspension if you go less the change in geometry under braking will create toe out and create instability.
You need rear toe in for straight line stability.
You could try front camber at 1.50 but I wouldn't exceed that.
Did you replace your shocks when you did your springs? If not you will probably experience bump steer.

Rob if I remember correctly I went for the z4m alignment. Car feels pretty good on that (it's also been lowered) inner edges of the tyres wore out but it was really even on both sides. I'd probably stick to these again if I had to, or with Davz recommendation :)

Can you do Z4M alignment settings without changing the front lollipop bushes to the Z4M version?

Yes. The bushes increase the +ve castor, which means you can get away with less "static" camber (what they change during an alignment) to achieve the same -ve camber range dynamically, i.e. during cornering. More +ve castor also increases the self-centring effect on the steering.

I made a table of alignment setting when getting mine done (in yellow) earlier this year:

Started with the M3 CSL settings in mind but ended up quite close to Z4MR specs.

[ref]MrPT[/ref], Thanks. I will print that off for reference - maybe even take it to the garage with me. (but like you said in my thread, will probably stick to standard set up first).

Excuse ignorance - why would worn shocks tend to increase likelihood of bump steer?
