3G/4G hotspot using car phone antenna?

I'm adding a 3G/4G wifi hotspot to a 2007 Z4 E86 and looking to use the existing car phone antenna to (hopefully) give a boost to signal strength.

Can anyone tell me which antenna the phone dock uses? I've been googling various forum posts, but can't find a clear answer. Does it share the external antenna in the quarter panel, or is the phone antenna hidden in the bumper? (as it is in the E89)

I was hoping to hide the hotspot in the centre console and run directly from this antenna connector in the eject box:

Can anyone identify the type of connector used here?

Failing that, I guess I'm going to have to start pulling out trim - would I expect to find the eject box cable running all the way to the TCU, or will there be a FAKRA connection near the access hole in the partition that I could plug something like this in to?

You might be best off getting a cradle from somewhere and butchering that. Leaves the car wiring intact that way.
 
Was just hoping to find a cable with the right connector that I can just push on to the eject box, and the other end to the 4G hotspot.

This is the connector that the snap in adapters use - need this connector on a cable!

I would happily (for the right price...) buy a snap in module for a phone if it had a known-RF connector that I could attach a cable to, but I think they generally just run to coils near the phone antenna to boost the signal - or have some custom phone connector. I suppose I could butcher it and crimp a TS9 on...

I'm beginning to think a FAKRA -- TS9 cable, connected behind the boot partition is the best way to go - the less connections the better and it can always be reconnected to the eject box later.
 
I'm not entirely sure what it is you're looking for, however the eject box is connected to a phone antenna in the boot (in fact the same module as used for AM radio reception), it's directly underneath the car's aerial.
The eject box connects to the ULF module with a FARKA SMB connection. You can probably see what happens from this photo.
