Put MHD stage 1+ on it and really let it loose :driving:

What would that give it...?

390bhp ish

Yeah,there was a similar e89 years ago,on a National meet,that someone had taken to 420bhp.
Alot if power, but still never got the better if myself or John in our respective E85 M's, lol.
Power isn't everything

Picked this manual 35i up from Player 1 in Devon yesterday, bit of an impulse purchase tbh, 360bhp Evolve map, M4 brakes, front control arms, H&R anti roll bar, strut brace. The thing is a bit bonkers, I’ve been in Jollyjoiners 360 35i but didn’t drive it, I’m frankly a bit shocked just how much more pull this has compared to a stock 35is given its only 20bhp more, I don’t know the torque figure for this, I forgot to ask..... . It’s no E89 I’ve ever driven, so much more composed to stock, manual box is slick, its a belter of a car.

Popped a new steering wheel and black front grills on today as first mods. Plans are to throw some KWV3’s on, rear H&R anti roll bar, adjustable drop links, bigger volume intercooler, a pair of downpipes and an Eisenmann ‘Zorst’ as the yoof say.... . Should make it quite a weapon and a fun project car. Also maybe a respray in a dark grey like the pic. Either way can’t see me parting with this for quite some time.
A real beauty there John, not unlike my own 2009 35i. When I remapped to 385bhp, the graph showed 450lb ft (610nm) of torque - when looking in the rear view mirror I did expect to see flying chunks of tarmac being ripped from the road...
Am now running the MHD 2+ and can recommend this if you want to go down the hardware upgrade route too.

I wouldn't bother John , ive had a traditionally remapped 35i manual & a MHD stage 1 35is , they don't even compare .
Its good you can now experience & feel the difference between a twin turbo DCT V manual , I was DCT after manual & found it one of my biggest motoring disappointments since buying a Alfa Brera

Nope it’ll stay as is power wise Andy...nothing needs messing with apart from more cooling, I’d rather have it unstressed than on the boil and potentially unreliable. It’s the perfect car to have on the road when the M comes off it end of the month for a complete strip down and rebuild over winter.

Nice example of an e89.
Saw this John, and thought, wonder if he's going to sell the M Roadster now,to fund a new z4 or that Porsche?
Thinking you would to hen sell bits (exhausts) of it,lol.

From exhausts to an E89,the lockdown/ falling off a ladder has alot to answer for,John haha.
What next for the M then, new Suspension, etc as I hope to do next year?

What you got in mind for it? (The M).

Sounds like a well sorted car John, has it overshadowed the g29 option? :?
Rob

I really can’t decide Rob.... Spec lockdown is Friday on a G29 so I’ve got to decide yes or no.

Thing is the G29 is very very nice, a comfy very capable cruiser, but it just lacks excitement, it doesn’t feel any different to a regular 3 series really, and my issue is can I stomach the depreciation on a car that is just ‘Nice’....whereas the depreciation on a 718 GTS should be a fraction of a Zed. That and I can’t really afford a 718...

Unless I sell everything else that is.......
Depreciation on all fossil fueled cars will begin to accelarate as we move away towards electric vehicles. All these million pound ferrari etc in collections will be nothing more than expensive paperweights.
I laugh when lambo drivers and the like still claim they have a supercar when an electric SUV can outrun it and get more to a 'tank' in some cases (new tesla sport). I will mourn the passing of the IC engine (the noise) but quite happy to embrace electric performance to make up for it.
Or you can fit a noise generating exhaust from Harmon Kardon

I think it'll be the opposite. The reason the million pound Ferraris are worth that has pretty much nothing to do with their performance. You can get a boring Golf to outrun an F40 but the F40 is still worth well over a million.

I don't doubt the future of cars is electric but for extremely wealthy car collectors their warehouses are only ever going to be filled with petrol powered exotica. Electric cars are the same as Diesel vehicles in my eyes, they get you from A to B and save you some money but in 20 years that £120k Tesla Model XS Max+ is going to be worthless but a Porsche GT3 will be worth multiple times its original retail value.

You beat me to it R.E92...imho the speed of a car is completely irrelevant, iconic N/A combustion engines especially will be held onto like nothing else in the automotive world with the arrival of electric. Turbo cars will fare very well too but high revving big litre N/A’s......the world will never see the likes of them again. That will make reasonably exotic engines the thing to have if possible in the future despite the anti socialness of them.
