35i with Dinan remap (finally)

I finally got through the maze of software updates and rewrites etc. and got the Stage II software installed. It upped the HP from 306 to 384 and boosted the torque to 425 ft lbs. So far I've only driven it from the dealership to work, about 40 miles with most of it on main roads and highways.

It sounds a little "deeper" at idle and when I step on it it goes like a bat out of hell. I'd say that it would easily beat my '05 M3 in the acceleration department. It does get a little hairy when floored but is still well under control. :D :D :D and the DCT is performing perfectly so far. The oil temperature seems normal (at least for 40 miles ) which was one of my concerns so the oil cooler seems to be adequate. I'm not going to race around a track too often but I think the adaptive suspension would be a definite plus so I may be looking for some suspension upgrades in the future. Some stiffeners or braces maybe?
IMO it's gone from being a boulevard cruiser to a sports car. Definitely a major improvement. :D :D

Kryton, with all the little tweaks that your iS has over the normal 35i, IMO the remap would in effect make your car equivalent to an M, without a doubt. You may never do it but it would be one heck of a sleeper .... :D :D :D

Yes I'm not sure about that, :) I think my 340 BHP is about the same as an M, and given that I get maximum torque of 450 (beats an M) and 500nm (annihilates an M) from 1500 revs even though my car is just a bit heavier I understand an M could not beat it especially with the DCT

We will just have to see if there is a 0 to 100 drag race between the two in one of the magazines to be sure

I would go for a remap if BM did one but there is no chance of that

Bet you cannot wait for the drive to work tomorrow :driving:

Happy motoring

EDIT, just waiting for all the M owners to jump on me now :tumbleweed:

I meant an M version of the E89 (that may never happen)

Actually I'm looking forward to the drive home from work :D :D

You've got to love those turbos
---- and the DCT :driving: :driving: :driving: :driving:

Enjoy your summer

mcbeee, the remap sounds great

It does sound great.

I just read some fine print that says the numbers are with a free flow exhaust. I'm not sure how much less than 384hp it is but
it goes a lot better...I'll have to find a dyno when I can get time and test it.

mcbeee, have you declared the upgrade to your insurer, and if you did do they require an extra premium? :)

I think that kind of BHP increase in the UK would make our insurance providers rub their hands with glee!

PM if you wish

They don't ask about mods over here. I phone them up and tell them what it is, what it cost and they tell me how much I pay. If you increase the value of a vehicle greatly by modifying it is up to the owner to get the proper insurance. Any thing like racing or rallying would void insurance so they don't really care. If I totalled the car on the way home I would be reimbursed for the replacement without any mods.

kryton,

You have the same car I just ordered in the same color and wheels. Question, does the 19' wheels really affect the ride much? Any options that you wish you had or did not have? :D
