35i single turbo

Hi.

Does anyone know when BMW will be switching the 35i to a single turbo instead of Two? I read this a while ago but have heard nothing since.

Thanks

Chris.

The 2.0 turbo should be on sale towards the end of the year so you would think the swap will be at the same time, but you never know. Maybe they will wait until the facelift, announce something towards the end of the year and on sale March 2012?

But that is all speculative

I think only 535i (F10) uses single turbo at the moment. BMW will keep 35i/is with twin turbo as top end models, and replace 23i and 30i with 4-cylinder with turbo.

11 plate 335i does too, I'm also pretty sure I've seen a 1 coupe with the twin scroll thing on it.

Thanks guys.

Has anyone any experience of the single turbo 3.0 (in the 1 or 3series)? Just wondered if its worth waiting for in the z4? Likely to purchase in August but would wait if its worth it...

Are you definitely getting a new one? What about picking up a demo 35is instead? Unless you want manual?

The torque comes in a bit lower in the N55 and if they have cured the HPFP issues then it's worth having, but it doesn't sound as good in the pub, only having a single turbo.

At the moment I'll go for an 'almost new' 30 or 35. Either way it will be auto. Just curious about the timing of the new engine and the chance of picking up a demo car with the new engine. Tbh, still think that the non turbo will be less hassle...

Ah OK, I reckon you'll have to wait until next year to pick up a used one. Also, prices are all over the place, the same model and spec can be £5 or 6k different between dealers. I would be more than happy with a nice M Sport 30i auto with a few toys.
