35i - good or bad engine set up?

Hi,

I've been reading through some of the forums which cover 335i cars as well as Z4 35i in the hope of getting a clearer picture of whether there is a resolution regarding the horror stories of fuel pump issues / turbo issues on the twin turbo cars.

It looks like BMW have faced court action in the states. Does anyone know if there is a 'line in the sand' on build dates for cars that had issues?

- i.e. are 2011 cars ok? or are there still major problems? Given the good prices available at present I really want to get a 35i during August, but given what I have read so far I think it'd be a big mistake. I drive 150 miles most days, not just a 20 minute commute...

Not bothered about fuel comsumption, but I don't need a car that doesn't go.

Any insights please?
 
From what i hear from the guys at my local dealership, the issues with the earlier 35's like mine are dealt with. I did have one or two issues but i do around 2,000 miles a month and she runs like a dream. Perhaps someone who has bought this year and clocks up some mileage can give you an insight. Personally i would say go for it, you tend to hear about the problems and not about all the cars that don't give any trouble at all.
 
I've 2800 in mine in the two months since I've had it no problems whatsoever, early days I know. But I'm not worried about it in the slightest, life is too short. The car is fantastic, and the engine is simply brilliant, and getting better all the time :)
 
I have got 21k miles on my 10 plate car and it hasn't missed a beat. No warranty issues apart from an drive control pad which I spilt a coke over, which was replaced under warranty...and oh yes my 2 cracked wheels....but engine is great.....best I've had.....
 
Sounds encouraging. I've just got to box up all my stuff, fly back to the Uk and find the one for me now.
