35i - DCT & DDC controls, again

Still not getting the hang of these systems. I can see that the most common mode is DCT set to D and DDC set to NORMAL. Thats fine but having commented that I thought the suspension was a little pitchy I move the DDC to SPORT, and yes there is an improvement I guess from having the adaptive suspension. However I note the car is in one gear lower, e.g D6 for a lot of the time when in NORMAL it would have stayed in D7.
That is also what appears to happen if I put the DDC back to NORMAL and the DCT into SPORT. Yes the gears show S1,2 etc but I don't see any real difference in these two modes gearbox wise. So cannot work out if you want stiffer suspension (DDC in SPORT) why you also have to have what appears at least to be similar gearbox settings to the DCT SPORT mode.
I then tried the DDC in SPORT+ with the DCT back in D and did not notice any further stiffening regarding the suspension. So as commented in the previous post would have expected a more noticeable difference.
Also with the DCT in D and the DDC in SPORT if the box is in D6 you just paddle it into M7 and then it defaults into D7. But when I put the DCT into SPORT and paddled from S6 to M7 it does not then default into S7 and stays stuck in the manual mode and I have not found out how to get it back into the S mode.
All very confusing for a newbie, sorry for such a long rant.

I believe, in all of that, you've answered your own questions.

For me, I use dct sport to use manual mode permanently, or sport mode on the ddc to give sportier shifts along with better suspension and steering control.

Sport + definitely gets very hard ride wise, try it on a rough road, makes your teeth rattle.

I follow what you are saying and try the DDC Sport+ on a rough road, plenty to choose from.
Regarding the DCT, if you have selected Sport and then select manual via the paddles how do you get back to auto Sport shifts. The SLK I had would allow paddle shifting in both Normal and Sport mode and return to the auto mode when conditions dictated. The manual mode alone was the third option.

Return to auto is only possible in normal box mode. In sport box mode once you enter manual you must go back to normal box mode then back to sport box mode to do what you're asking.

I rarely use sport box mode, it goes into that mode for Manual use. For auto use I use the box in normal and use ddc in sport mode.

Simply put, use it how you like it.

Thanks for that, I just wanted reassurance that I was understanding/not understanding the full operation. I will stick mainly to the DCT in D and the DDC in sport as you suggest, as I'm sure it will be adquate for most road situations, particularly country ones where the suspension needs to be a little stiffer and I can play with the paddles when needed.
