3.0si - Orange Engine Emission Warning Light...

..came on during my drive to work this morning. :x

I have it booked in for an oil service next week, so I'll get the diagnostics read on it then. I assume I am correct in saying it will be fine to keep using the car until then as it's only an emission point. I am mindful it has only done a couple of short runs from very cold nights in the last couple of days which won't have helped.

Will an Italian tune up help?! :driving:

The car still seems to run absolutely fine incidentally - so I'm hoping it will be either a blip or an O2 sensor that's gone.

Can the light ever indicate more expensive issues?

PS - only had it two weeks - so this is quite annoying! :headbang:
 
well when i got my Z in Decemeber the light came on the day i got it, i then didnt get it fixed till the end of January and it was fine, and no ammount and Italian driving helped lol, turned out to be a broken pipe before the MAF, had that replaced and a few weeks later the light is back on!! :headbang: so mine is going to back in on Monday!

Previous owner was running it on the normal unleaded but I am running it on Tesco Momentum 99 - could this have an effect?
 
I had the same as you, I ran same fuel all the time, then changed to ESSO as all I could get and 10 miles later I pulled away from some lights and on came the emissions.

It seems quite common that a change in fuel makes these go.

That was on a 2.5si (same engine as yours)

Did the light go off?! Or had it actually damaged one of the emissions sensors?
 
I had similar recently on a 2.5Si and the dealer replaced a solenoid(?) under warranty and the problem has gone away for now.

Okay that's interesting. I did note that the seller had included a receipt for replacement of a solenoid previously at about £65. So could be a recurrance of that - or something else.

The solenoid or the o2 sensor? Sorry a tad confused!

Well...the light went off before I got to the garage! So didn't bother with the diagnostics - assuming it was simply a blip.

I have now discovered a broken rear spring though - so Eibach springs all round ordered :driving:
