Hi,

I’ve recently purchased a 3.0si roadster which i’m really pleased with overall. I’ve wanted one for a while and the opportunity came up to get one :D.

The car has 83k miles on its and is in good health for Its age. However, I’ve noticed an occasional problem when driving that I was hoping to get some help with from the community.

When I come to a stop on an incline and apply the handbrake the car will jerk about a fifth of a wheel revolution back (or forwards if on a down slope) when I release the foot brake. The car will also drop down slightly on the front passenger side. Other than this, the car drives well and the problem does not occur when only the foot brake is used.

The problem only happens occasionally, hence I didn’t notice on the test drive. Haven’t had the car to anyone yet for a look, Any insight from you chaps would be great!

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum!

I think the first thing to do is to readjust your hand-brake and go from there. Since one side 'drops down slightly', and the car doesn't just squat like it should, one side must be biting more than the other. The hand-brake adjustment seems to be a very straight forward DIY, only requiring the rear wheels to be removed and spinning a wheel that you can access via one of the bolt holes. Search the forum :D

Welcome!

Someone else posted this thread this week, which may be of interest: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=114892

You don't need to remove a wheel to adjust the handbrake, only one wheel bolt. Read the thread I've linked above and see what you think

I’ve just adjusted my brakes and they are not easy to see what’s going on. Taking the wheel off does give you a fraction of a better view but it’s a job to ‘feel ‘ what you’re doing.
Good luck
