3.0i pre-facelift - will 16" alloys fit?

Just thinking about a second set of alloys for winter/possible track use (obviously not the same tyres!).

I'd much rather find a set of 17" 103's, but to give me as many options as possible it'd be good to know if 16" alloys willl clear the calipers on the 3.0i pre-facelift? Does anyone know if they do?

Cheers

the standard disks on the 3.0 are 300mm.
Inner rim dimensions of 16" alloys is big enough for 320mm disks ( i ran 16" on 320 brembo kit on a corolla many moons ago)

So, by guesswork, I reckon they'll be ok - but it all depends on the size of the caliper.

Cheers, I wasn't aware of the dic size on my Z4 until now. TBH I'll probably still hold out for a very cheap set of 17" 103s or similar though.

As you say, it depends on the size/shape of the caliper. Extremely few aftermarket wheels would fit my previous car due to the caliper size - the OEM alloys were specially shaped to *just* clear the standard calipers (AP Racing 4-pots).

A11y, I still have a set of 16s sitting in my garage... frankly I'm tired of moving them around! If you want them, make me an offer (low if you want, I don't expect much for them!) and you'd need to sort carriage. Only problem, I'd need to get them to the office for shipping... 2 trips!

Let me know, I can sort some pics if you want.

Ha!

if a11y doesn't want them, I'll have them :)

if it's me that gets them - don't worry - I'll arrange collection if that's ok? (Have a mate in Salisbury who comes up here or I go down there...)

No worries!

A11y, you've got dibs :poke:

Just PM'd you :)

sk93 - I've just said to PawnSacrifice that I've been trying to do a bit of research into tyre costs, etc but having issues here from work because of internet bods blocking access to shopping sites. I'll get on the case as soon as I can tonight after work, don't want to keep you waiting (too long ) if you're interested too.

meh.. i'm only after em as a second set for tracking.. so i'm in no rush :)
(plus, don't tell him yet, but I prolly cant collect till the new year anyways)

a11y, for tyre prices there is virtually no difference between 16" and 17" for either winter tyres or summer tyres, there might be the odd exception to the rule, but generally that is the case.

That's assuming a 225/45 17 and a 225/50 16 as the tyre of choice.

Cheers Mike

I was able to figure out the tyre sizes, that's good info on the pricing being similar. I'll have a little think about it and try and get some winter tyre prices tonight...

Oops sorry, should've updated sooner.

I've been in touch with Matt (PawnSacrifice) over the past week and I'm taking his alloys - sorry sk93, too good an offer for me to pass up on it :D
