3.0 Z4 winter project purchase.

Hello everyone.

I have just purchased a 2003 3.0L Z4 SE spec as a project car. The car drives fine and is a good spec but with issues and in need of TLC which I hope I can get sorted with the help of the members here to make this a mint car. Anyway before I get onto the issues heres the spec.

2003, 3.0L, 79K, part service history, lady owner since 04, sterling grey with read leather, heated seats, sat nav/multi changer, xenon's.

Missing headlamp washer jet.

Here are are the issues and bits that need doing:

Body work tidy up, respray front and rear bumpers, few paint less dent repairs too.

Alloys could do with a refurb.

Oil leak around the oil filter housing, this is also causing a slight oil burning smell when driving.

Roof not working, suspected motor fault.

Water sloshing around in frame of car, (can here it) suspected blocked drains.

Remote keys not functioning.

No sound from radio,CD/satnav unit. Displays and everything else working just not sound.

CD multi changer magazine stuck and not ejecting.


Other small bits and bobs in interior to tidy up.

I think that's most of the bits but I will keep updating this thread if any other issues pop up.

I will start some threads in the relevant forums about the issues to help seek advice.
 
Sounds a decent spec car but a fair amount of faults to get through :cry: hope it reflected in ask price as you could be at the back end of £1500 when all the jobs are ticked off :wink:

Glad you purchased it as a project car as this has to be the biggest list of issues I've seen on a Z4 (aside crash repairs)
Hope you paid buttons.
Good luck in bringing back to life.
Btw - I think most of your issues listed in the separate threads are water related. Sort the hood drains and any boot water before thinking about the amp, hood and even keys.
I suspect this car has been flooded by rising water or parked outside untouched for months

i dont wish to offend - but this car be worth more in parts if the interior is in good shape , its got Xenons and a desirable interior colour - could be worth looking into ?

Best of luck with it - I agree with CJ first i thought of was water ingress

Was this the one on Ebay with the white wall scrapes on the front and rear off side bumpers and advertised as a 'winter project'. ???

I think it was advertised around the £4k mark ??

I looked at the advert and half considered a silly bid for a winter project, but I dont think it was local enough to be practical..

Are you doing it to keep or sell come spring ?
