Hi

I've had a problem with my Sat Nav recently in that it hasnt been opening and closing properly. I understand from a helpful reply to a thread that it was the stepper motor in the screen which was broken and have found a few other threads with the same problem.

I'm not a practical person but am not going to pay BMW a grand or whatever they might charge to fix this when I understand that the parts can be picked up for £100 or so.

I googled 'z4 spare parts' and the first link was for 247spares.co.uk - seems that you enter in what you are looking for and then should hopefully get quotes from dismantlers etc for the part you need. I wanted to see whether anyone on here had used them before so that I can get comfort that they are reliable? ALternatively, can anyone recommend another source for me to pick up this part which I need? I live in West London and owuld pick up in person if not available online
Cheers

Hi Adam,

There are a few sites like that, in some ways it's a difficult one to answer as the service it so dependant on the company providing the part, used these services before (for my old bike) and they were pretty good.

Another one to look at is www.bmminiparts.com, you browse the parts diagram, similar to RealOEM and if they have the part themselves you just add to cart, otherwise, fire of the request.

It is worth checking the price for the part from BMW - OEM is not always the most expensive option, or possibly worth paying a slight premium for a new part.

Cheers and good luck

Thanks PawnSacrifice. I had a look on the two websites which you metioned but couldnt find the bit needed. Not sure whether I'm being a simpleton....(!)

My Sat Nav isnt flipping up and therefore looking for a new screen with a working stepper motor in it....the only part which I can find is the whole central console for about $2k!!!!

Any ideas anyone?!?!?
Thanks

I've used them a couple of times and have been spot on, although as already mentioned it really depends on the dismantler you are buying from as 247 are only really acting like an introducer!

Sorry mate, but you're doing something wrong, assuming I have the correct part...
CENTRAL INFORMATION DISPLAY

Unfortunately I think you need SCHWARZ. If you click on the get price bit that will fire out an enquiry for you.

Thanks for this ParnSacrifice. I understand that its the screen in that diagram which I need. Whats the difference though between 'Schwarz' and 'Grau'? (and why do you say 'Unfortunately' I need Schwarz)?

Also, whats the difference between the various lines on that screen which say 'Schwarz'? Am not sure what part no I need
Thanks for the help again; I'm a novice at these things!
Cheers

Vielen Dank!

Any idea where I find what the part no which I need is and also can I assume that the satnav screen is the same for all Z4s of all ages? Mine is an 03 plate
thanks again!
