23i Using Oil

Hi All

Car - 2009 24 23i Manual, 54,000 miles with full service history.

Problem - its asking for a litre of oil every 3.5k miles. Has anyone else had a similar problem / experience.

That's well within tolerance jm afraid for a 6 pot n53 engine. Technical service bulletin says 1lt per 1000 miles is acceptable :thumbsup:

A friend of mine went from Castrol Edge (0w-30) to Mobil ESP (5w-30) and his straight 6 drank less oil. He reckoned the engine was quieter too. I'm not talking from experience, just what I've been told.
 
Mine burns 1litre in 10k miles. Could just about get away without topping as I change at 10k anyway, but usually keep it topped up. Now at 68k miles. I use Mobil 1.
Yours does seem a bit thirsty.
 
I had 2009 bmw z4 23i manual. Mine was drinking 3/4 of liter oil each 1200 miles. Car was smooth never experienced any problems. Take care
