Again that 15BHP improvement depends on what your car is giving out already and how the components are working so if it wasn't at 231 BHP when you drove in, don't expect to see 246 BHP when you leave.

I serviced my car around 4k ago (Oil, plugs etc) but since the last 1,000 miles I used redex for a few tanks to clean engine and the only fuel I have been using since then is Shell V+ Nitro and I can honestly say the engine now feels cleaner and more powerful than when I first bought the car so premium fuels do make a difference to premium engines but it takes a bit of time for the effects to really show.

Before that and since I bought my car just over a year ago the only place I filled up was at Salisbury with normal unleaded as its round the corner from me so I do have something to benchmark the results against as the only change since 3k after service has been the fuel.

So if you are thinking of remapping or doing any other extra BHP mods, first get your engine running as should be naturally and the method is pretty basic but takes time and don't forget to reset your throttle now and again to make the adjustments work. The overall gain over cost paying 5p - 9p per liter over normal fuel is well worth it but don't expect to see the results overnight.

If your 3.0i is anything like mine, get it running as it should and you wont even want to remap it anymore as that idea for me is now in the past.

Great advice, I certainly will be going for Shell V Power from now on. Has anyone heard of or tried Cataclean? Google it, my mechanic swears by it!
