Car was in for a service on Monday and we were supposed to get either a 1,3 or 4 series as a courtesy car.
Surprise of the day when we get shown the car by the service guy. A 218D Active Tourer in white!
What an ugly car. What were they thinking when they designed it?
Anyway the car is quite nippy and fairly quiet but inside it is huge and other than the lovely leather interior it felt cheap.
If you were to take the badges and grill off it you would never guess it was a BMW.
A list price of £35,000 is way more than anybody should pay for one and the ride although smooth is extremely noisy with more road noise heard inside the cabin than in the Z.
When returning the car the service guy asked what we thought and when we said garbage he didnt seem too surprised.
 
Ive seen one or two on the road,and they look awful,other than the grill it could be any manufacturer.
 
It has received very poor reviews. BMWs first foray into FWD so not a great sign of things to come for the next generation 1 series.
 
Didnt know it was front wheel drive but it makes sense now why it seemed there was a lot of road noise from the front.
 
I looked at one of these before I got the Merc. The 2AT Is very cheap feeling, lots of bargain plastics and I didn't just walk away, I ran.
