2021 Project

Hi,

I don't usually post much on what I do to my cars, but given the wealth of information on here with people doing their own projects and how they have helped me I thought I would do the same.

My target is 2 years but this is very loose due to funds and time.

History, I bought the car in May 2020 as I've always wanted one since my old MD had one of the 1st ones in 2003. It's 2004 3.0i with 107k miles. Has some nice options but I always like to tinker. My plans are (including some already done);

Gaptech module (done)
Disa upgrade (done)
Cup holders (done)
Bluetooth module
Bushes all round
Eibach springs (done)
Bilstein B4 shocks (done)
Vanos upgrade
Replace drivers seat upholstery foam back (done)
Refurb 108's with new rubber
HR arbs
Rear discs and pads
Stormwerks knob and handbrake (due today - early bday present)
Brake hoses (mot Advisory)
Spacers
Bumper respray - then full detail
Headlight refurb - again!
Full interior strip, new door insulation, cure water leak and replace and damaged worn out interior parts (started, ongoing)
Interior upgraade to personalise a little
Cure sloppy knob
M pedals
new grills
Full service inc. all fluids
Sound deadening
Royals steering wheel recover
M sport seats - recovered
Replace door brake (done)
Wipers (mot Advisory)
New BMW mats (done)
New BMW emblems
Maybe Maxton splitter and spoiler

I aim to document and photograph my progress, so I'll update this as time goes on as others do. Hopefully it will be as interesting as I find other projects on here

Matt

Hi Matt,

Look forward to seeing the progress on this thread, I wish you all the best of luck with it! Some amazing mods done and yet to come too!

Would love to see the ride height with the B4s and Eibach springs (I went OEM M-Sport springs with B4s but nearly didn't).

As others will say:
:worthless:

the door brake is the arm that comes from the door that stops the door opening too far. Mine had worn and clicked loudly ever time I opened and closed the door.

I'll post some pics later avoiding any sloppy knob pics

Thanks, never heard that before

Sound deadening to the doors - well drivers. It was so cold I only did one and had to use a hair dryer to warm up the stuff. Went ok. Next weekend the other door

Little update. Took the carpet out - what a pain. But it did allow me to see how much water had been soaked up.

Think i have 2 leaks which i have an idea where they are. A few little surface rust spots which I’ll sort before it all goes back together
