I quite like it.

Might consider an upgrade next year

Pretty annoying advert - the car looks fine, but i had to keep pausing the advert to get a good look at it. Very Audi-esque lights, but the same VW interior I think is quite bland. I wasn't impressed with the last version, so this would need to be a major uplift for me to consider it.

Audi & VW do seem to be adding alot more straight lines back onto their cars which I like. I will take a look at this as I'm looking at SUVs..

Styling wise its a major improvement!

i really like it!

I actually like the current model too.. but struggled to convince the wife (and it was her car!) And we ended up with a Qashqai - which was cheaper and has way more toys....

Not as nice as the VW inside or with the drive though.

I love my MK1 Tiguan, so easy to drive. Far better than the Q3 I borrowed for a few weeks.

Sorry to threadjack, but what are your thoughts on the new Quashqai? It looks far superior to most on the roads now and the Tekna does seem to have all the toys... all for a reasonable price...

What about the F-Pace? Starting at £34k could be interesting

Indeed although I am sceptical as to what you get for £34K

We went for an XC60 in the end - tried Quasquai, Kuga, Tiguan, Toureg, RR Vogue..... ended up going for the Volvo as the overall package was excellent, and the seats were far better (more supportive, with lumbar etc) than anything apart from the Vogue - that had heated and cooling seats with lumbar. Wasn't keen on the Quashquai (and the salesman annoyed the wife by speaking only to me, despite me continually telling him it was her car) and the Kuga rear seats were a joke - think teh designer liked 1970's British Rail bench seats!

Its actually really nice... we have a 2014 tekna.. a little sceptical as it was the first model (so i was expecting software bugs!) but keyless entry, all around camera - which pick up road signs, heated seats, xenons etc... tech galore!

It drives like a car not an SUV - which is good... and economical - averaging 55mpg for the 1.6D.. and managed over 700 miles to the tank before the light came on! And has a much bigger boot than the Tiguan....

Downside....

Compared to the German equivalent - the leather isnt as nice - and the doors are more tinny - and i am sure it has more road noise coming through... also the tekna is pricey and is more inline with a Audi Q3 - but i guess if you spec the Q3 to similar levels it would cost much more!

The performance isnt great too.. we tried the CVT at first and it was gutless (coming from the wifes SLK200) so went with a manual.. and it isnt an inspiring drive... second gear need a lot of gas to get going.... the VW 2.0 TDI is far better.

Also rear seats have limited headroom.. but isnt a problem for us as it will be used to ferry our new born around!

The new F-Pace looks pretty good and an alternative to the new X1

Not keen on the Tiguan for looks anyways, like most VWs they're all starting to look acheingly dull :(
