Hey guys,

Is anyone going to Le Mans this year? :driving:

It will be the first "24h du Mans" for me... so got a bit excited and will get the Zed all stickered up

cheers

Not me I'm sad to say. Couldn't get things organised this year. Will have to live in the garden over the Le Mans weekend, living on beer and ham & cheese baguettes!

Yep depart week on Tiesday - can't wait :driving:

Stickers still in packaging - need to clay and polish before these go on

The big debate is whether to unpack and put the tent up in advance to check all is ok - hasn't moved from the garage since after Le Mans last year :?

Possible meet up??

I'm also headed over on the Tuesday evening, although I'll be in the M3 Convertible rather than the Z4. A Z4MR - even with a boot bag - is a very tight fit for a weekend's camping plus a week's holiday in France thereafter!

Be aware that there are transport strikes in France planned for the Tuesday (14th June), so there may be delays and/or cancellations to ferries on the day :-(. This is separate from the petrol shortage (which seems to have abated).

The answer is a very definite YES! (Don't ask me how I know...)

My first year in six I've not been! Going back next year, for you first timers. Enjoy, you will be hooked

Do not drive anywhere after midday on the Friday! A bit of friendly advice

Another bit of friendly advice: stick to the speed limits. The Gendarmerie regard the Le Mans weekend as their opportunity to meet their fines' target for the year!

Assuming that you have a real sportscar and not one of those coupé things, make sure that you keep your roof up when going past the idiots with the water pistols (magic roundabout, the road past the main entrance to the circuit, Arnage village, etc), unless you want the inside of your car soaked with water and who knows what else!

And (unless you speak French) bring a small radio to listed to Radio Le Mans (91.2MHz) on - otherwise you won't have a clue about what's happening during the race.

Thanks for the advice guys,

how bad is the traffic from Le Mans to Calais on sunday afternoon/evening?

If you can stay over on the Sunday, then that's what I would do nowadays. However, it's not that bad now that the autoroutes have been extended over the years. I have watched the presentations, left the circuit at about 5:00pm and have been in Calais before 10:00pm. Once you clear Le Mans, say an hour, the Autoroutes are fairly empty.

Remember that you'll get an hour back coming home.

Enjoy :driving:

Thanks. See below photos of the stickering process. I should finish it tomorrow :)
