I first heard about this championship on a forum (this forum) and have since been to watch and am now competing in my second season.

So though I would give a brief rundown of the championship and the 2014 dates, its always a good watch with much more than BMWs racing throughout the weekends

22/23 March Donington Park (Live TV)
05/06 April Rockingham
10/11 May Snetterton
07/08 June Silverstone (Live TV)
26/27 July Brands
23/24/25 August Donington
20/21 September Croft
04/05 October Pembrey

The championship is open to any BMW sold in Europe. The cars are split into 4 main classes + Invitation class:

Class A: Maximum 235 bhp per tonne above 3.0L (E36 M3 evos and E46 M3s & S54 engined 1 Series)
Class B: Maximum 210 bhp per tonne Max 3.0L capacity engines. (M3 non evo)
Class C: Maximum 185 bhp per tonne Max 2.9L capacity engines (6 cylinders)
Class D: Maximum 135 bhp per tonne BMW M42 & M44 engines Max 1.9L capacity (E36 318is)
Class Inv: Invitation class – Any BMW model at the discretion of the BMWRDC to
include BMW Mini’s

My E36 328 fits into Class C

There is 1 qualifying and 2 races for each class on the race weekend, across 8 tracks in the UK.

Class A now race on there own, and class B, C & D race together.

So across a race weekend there are 2 BMW qually sesions and 4 races.

More info can be found at http://www.bmwrdc.com

I'll put my racing video's & results here and hopefully be able to answer any questions.

If anyone is considering entering and wants to know budget details feel free to PM me.

Thanks we went to the donnington event last weekend and the father in law should be going to the rockingham one next weekend. The racing was great.

Mmm-five it was YOU!

I was trying 2 remember which member posted about their mate that did it and I though that racing seemed like a good idea!

So I'm holding you personally responsible, and my bank manager (SWMBO) will be having some stern words with you! ;-)

Thanks, I was just happy to bring the car back in 1 peice, we had hail at 1 point on the weekend, the weather lead to a bit more contact than usual! 8-9 cars had reasonable damage from the weekend. 2 of which was serious but both drivers are doing ok and on the mend now:

Guilty as charged.

Team LeanMeanRacing with Ian Joberns at the wheel took the Class D title last year, but I've not heard from them this year - although they did miss the first round in 2013 too.

As far as I'm aware, they aren't entered in 2014, I spoke to them at Donny and the plan was to save up and build as class B M3 for next year

Ah!

They did mention something like that last year, but I thought it was just the usual day dreaming we all do.

First race weekend at Donington:

One wet race, one dry race.

Race 2 Finished 9th, 2nd in class. Race red flagged due to accident

Rockingham:

2 dry races:

Race 1 Started 14th, 4th in class. Finished 12th 3rd in class

Snettertons race weekend,

Wet Qually, Dry Race 1, Torrential Race 2

Race 1:

Race 2:

Silverstone:

Wet qually and 2 dry races

Race 1 - Started 3 in class 13 overall, finished 2 in class 11 overall

Race 2 - Finished 3 in class 12 overall. Got into first but spun after contact :-(

Had 4 separate 'incidents / taps' over the 2 races, which left the car looking abit sorry for itself.

Let me know what you think, were they legitimate gaps? Over ambitious moves? Should I have been given racing room or were they racing incidents?

At 6:05 your opponent is indicating left. That makes me think he's giving you space to overtake, but then he turns-in closing the door and leaving no room for you to pass. That isn't nice :)

I think that's the sun catching his light, don't think he indicated.

I put it down to a simple racing incident, some background:

I was testing there, fri all day in the sun, new exactly where my turn in point was and how much speed I could carry through the turn, qually sat am was a wash out! Afternoon bright sun, so this was the 1st time he had driven on the circuit in the dry. Possibly ever for that corner as we used to use the club circuit and that's the 1st time we used international.

So he's checked his mirror I'm a way back, he is in an M3 3.0 I'm in a 328, he's using extra power to pull away from me down the straight and is not expecting a move up the inside.

Oil at turn in point so compromised line & cautious entry, I'm carrying far more speed and interpret a late apex / compromised line as a gap, if he was aware I was that close he would have given me room, race closely and cleanly with him quite abit.

There is more questionable gaps & contentious moves in Silverstone, Race 2 and Croft Race 2

To wet your appetite! No prizes for guessing the outcome here, although it could have been a lot worse!

The final update of this years race season:

Pembrey.

Race 1:
Qualified 4th (1st in class C) on a drying track, finished 2nd (1st in class) on a dry track with a new lap record for my class!
http://youtu.be/nPIegZ3LRw4

Race 2:
After some good battling for 1st, (1st in class)I came home 1st after a damp start but drying throughout.
My first ever out right win and my third class win of the season.
http://youtu.be/yChD9N02V8I

Overall in the championship I finished up 2nd in class, so unfortunately didn't manage to retain the class title, but roll on next year. And a successful season in terms of limited car damage and no personal injuries.

Looks like you had a good year - albeit coming 2nd overall

Are you staying with the same car/class for next year or considering something else?

Thanks guys.

As with most things racing wise budget is key, so same class same car probably same championship aswell.

Few upgrades to the car of-course, in the off season, but I'm happy in class C in my 328. I'm Consistently getting involved with the lower end of the class B guys and sometimes the top end in the wet. And replacement 328 engines are 200-300 quid, with M3 engines coming in at 10 times that, it appears to make sense to stay in class C, seems a lot of money to jump up a class to higher running costs when the lap times are 3.5 seconds quicker (Donington Park National) or 1 second (Brands Hatch Indy)
