How i hated to leave Venice! Then to Florence, the first part of the drive was boring but the countryside from Forli through the hills to Florence was absolutely stunning, not many pics as i spent too much time enjoying the scenery and drive.

fantastic, 8)

Brings back memories as I've completed similar runs on my bikes (ducati or BMW GS) over the years and I love driving / riding on the continent. A great place for a journey, where the destination often matches the quality of the scenery and roads - Perfect

Been thinking about taking a :driving: jaunt in the Z……. now it's almost certain -THANKS

Great pics  Thanks for sharing.

Thauma, my road trips are like yours, by bike. Have done a trip every year by bike, since 1986 and have thoroughly enjoyed everyone of them.

Apart from a dozen or so car trips to the Ring, never done a proper road trip by car. Must get round to it one day

I see a lot of Alpine trips mentioned on here, the Pyrenees are well worth a visit too, as is Slovenia.

Cheers

Cheers guys.
I hope the pics give people ideas of places to visit or just the inspiration to jump in the car and go driving somewhere new.
If anyone ever has any questions about some of the places i mention please ask away.

Lance, the Pyrenees are on my list of places to take Mrs Roofless. I spent some time driving through part of the Pyrenees many years ago in my old MG Midget and would love to go back. I would definitely love to do more of Eastern Europe too. There have been some great pics on the forum and i keep adding to my wish list based on other peoples road trips.

Thauma
not a bike man myself but see loads when driving in the mountains abroad. There is something special about seeing these places with the open sky above you and, for me - with no crash helmet is a massive bonus :) Plus it's a little easier to bring back a good supply of foreign plonk to help relive memories of the holiday when you have a boot :)

WLH, thanks. It's been ages since i was last in the USA. I'd love to get back sometime and drive some more there. During our 3 month trip round the US we saw some amazing places. I'd love to drive from Seattle to LA down the coast, doing it by Greyhound was an experience but i'd like to do it a little more leisurely sometime. Again - one on the wishlist.

Great pics, like having a wee holiday

Me too, this would be a great drive down.

Nice pics and inspiring me to start planning

What time of year did you go out of interest? I went to Venice, Florance and Lake Garda last year, how would you compare Lake Como, Parma, and Gimignano?
