I have had two 7 series (735 and 740) and liked them a lot. The V8 of the 740 was just great, and real arm chair driving.
As I got the X5 for the family, I no longer need the 4 seater so will continue to buy sports cars instead for myself for the foreseable future.
Maybe in 20 years time I would be in the market again for a 7 ...
