2009 35i DCT & toys on Autotrader - cheap ???

It's about average I'd say, for a 3 year old with above average miles.

My Z4MC at 2 years old and 9k miles was only a not more.

That's got to be over £20k depreciation in three years though...

Couple of years and I am going to be torn between an ///M and an e89...

Mad how nowdays you can get a 300 plus sportscar for less than 15k nowdays...
Wouldnt mind trying out a 35is would imagine it feels a lot faster than an ///m more often
Doesnt look anywhere as good as the e85 though do they

Bing that's almost my car but on a 10 plate with slightly lower miles. But mine has the design interior, M sport wheels, bumper and 5 year service pack. I'd get 24K for mine privately, or 22K for a quick sale....

Thought about selling it, as money might be tight for a while, but may as well keep it, until I really need to release some cash

It is a 35i - the cheapest 35iS I found was £10k more I think, not on the page anymore. 35 has 300bhp, which would be plenty for me really, but the 35iS at 340bhp is proper. They both sound immense too. The look is still only growing on me - though that one in particular would cost me way too much in mods :D

I love my auto for the miles I do, so a 300bhp+ Z with a DCT auto box (that the wife can drive if she needs to) is very attractive when compared unemotionally side by side with an e85 ///M

However, if I can pick up a decent ///M for £10/12k in two years then I think I will be getting emotional

Also I meant to say, you'd be impressed with an auto 20i M Sport, I know it doesn't sound that powerful on paper but you may be surprised. And these days the average real world 0-60 time is about a minute and a half.

My last couple of cars have been manuals, so I have no problems with them, but unless things change drastically it'll always be a car I use daily so in reality The Plan is not very practical :(

But as an prospective M lover, you would hate the 35 ...

Yep. If I got a 35 I would probably always feel like I'd missed out... Or copped out :P

I drove both and it left me stone cold. The DCT version was even worse for me.

If there was a proper M coming, I might reconsider it as long as it was manual and more of a sports car.

This interested me - why ? Just because it wasn't manual ?

No - it would not let me do what I wanted and when I wanted it.

Going around roundabouts, I would want to have the car in second to get out of the roundabout, but it would change to 3rd even though I would be in manual mode which left it "dead" when moving off.

My X5 gearbox is more predictable than the E89 was but that gearbox is newer again than the E89.

It is not a manual versus automatic type thing as I have both, just the E89 version was really not for me.

That is a bit weird - when mine is in manual it will change down sometimes when I slow down and don't touch the gears, but it never changes up for me unless I hit the limiter or sit for a loooooooong time at the same speed. and in Sport it never changes up until the limiter. If I ever decide to test drive a 35 I will make sure I have a proper play with it... Bit disappointing to hear tbh because my auto is very flexible, just sometimes needs to change a little faster, which I figured the DCT would do.

Now that's weird, I don't get that with mine. Doesn't matter where I am or on what situ, whenever you put your foot down, the gear drops and off you go...and it's always pulling hard and high.....

Yeah, it put me off the DCT version. I specifically put it in manual mode to be able to change when I wanted to, but by lifting off the accelerator it decides that it is time to go to third gear, even though I did not want it to do it. It was not a one off thing either, it happened often at for me inappropriate places.

Driving along "normally" was fine, but when you want to control the box, I want it to be more responsive.
