2008 E85 - fluid sloshing behind seats?

Hi all,

I have noticed for quite some time that there is a sound of water sloshing around behind me when I'm driving on the local lanes. Before anyone accuses me of being a complete spanner, it has crossed my mind that the fuel tank is somewhere behind me, but I'm certain I haven't always heard the sloshing until relatively recently and I don't think my hearing is THAT good. It sounds more like there's a bottle of water under the passenger seat...

My car has already had the roof motor re-sited to the boot, but could this be water trapped in the original space? If so, where is that space, and how do I access it?

If it's not that, does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Hopefully a simple fix.
Whip out the drain bungs from in front of the rear wheels and hopefully all that water will run out.
May need to thread a coat-hanger up there too, to clear any crud out.
Lots of threads on here that show clear photos of how to access the bungs.
I found it easiest to take the wheels off and remove the access panel in the front of the rear arch liner.
If you don't do it then the water will spill over and give you soggy carpets too.

NB. Hopefully the roof motor relocation was done correctly, but if the plastic casing has been left in place then that could be full too.

Almost certainly going to be water trapped in the cavity where the motor/pump was originally housed, best check the plastic container that it was housed in was removed when the unit was relocated to the boot as suggested earlier, if its still there it will fill with water. As to the drains access if you look up under the sill just in front of the rear wheels you will see the drain, pull the rubber one way valve off the end of the drainpipe and don't put them back. Use something flexible to poke up the drain pipe to rod it clear, pour clean water down from the top to flush it and check the drain is clear post rodding them out. Watering can of water should suffice over a hosepipe to do this.

Had the same before and it actually overflowed onto my shoulder in an exuberant corner

I've read that if you remove the rubber valves, the car gets noisier inside (with the roof up !).
Is this true or just rumour ?

Minimal noise increase with the bungs removed, better than letting it fill up again even if the pump/motor has been relocated to the boot.
