2007 Z4 Textile Wind Deflector

Having just bought a second hand 'as new' Genuine BMW after fit all textile wind deflector, does anyone know how to securely fix it in place using all the attached straps? This may sound an odd question for something so simple but after slipping it over the roll bars the rear fixing straps appear to need securing in a position that is impossible to see or even get at very easily behind the bars.

I would have thought BMW would have made the process a lot simpler given the Germans renowned functional logic!

Any help appreciated.

Sorry I can't help with your wind deflector, but that last line made me laugh. I use to stay at a Holiday Inn in Greeneville TN when working there that was owned by this German chap. He wouldn't use anything but German made hardware in his motel. It was the only motel I have ever stayed at that I got locked INSIDE my motel room ever! LOL I had to call the front desk and have someone come around with a key to let me out.

They hook under the plastic trim and pull tight with the straps.

Hmmm, thank you both for your responses (sorry to hear about your German owned hotel experience Wa'ya but glad I stimulated a laugh)
Anyway andysat, I guessed that was the fixing method but after feeling around the back of the hood area with the hooked end of the strap found it impossible to get a fixing on any area of trim. The area can't be seen except through the back window when the soft top is up but that's no good when you're trying to fix it. If you've been successful have you any images please ?

Sorry no iirc I fitted it with the roof halfway.

I haven't fitted all the straps, just couldn't work it out. The back ones are simply pushed into the bit that goes over the roll bars. Doesn't seem to cause any problems, and it's been in place for close to a year now.

I have one but fitted only the two outside straps and cut the others off. It fits OK and won't come off.

It's a while since I fitted one of these, but from memory I raised the roof slightly which allowed enough access to hook the rear straps onto the bottom of the plastic trim.

Thanks to all for your responses. The side straps are easily fitted but it's the back straps that are the problem. With great difficulty I have managed to fit the outer two straps to the trim by feel. The inner two have had to be left loose as no way could I obtain a secure fixing, even with the roof half up - ( it tends to want to creep down anyway in this position) :!:

That's exactly what I found. Don't worry though the other two straps will definitely keep it in place.

I remember you posting and that was my advice at the time. As I said earlier I've cut off the spare buckles to make it look neater. I took it off for the winter as I feel it aids rear view vision but now need to refit it now the weather is picking up.
Now where did I put it?

I kept it on for winter, sort of got used to the lack of visibility !

I actually removed it to gain access to dust in the area behind. It was in a state and never got round to refitting.
