2006 E85 driver side headlight

Im trying to track down what sort of replacement headlight I need (driver side). It’s suffering from major condensation and rather than dry it out I’m looking for a good used part that I will charge back to the garage I bought the car from.

If anyone can help me uncover what headlight unit it is I need i’d be very grateful, if you have one for sale as well then I’ll probably fall of my chair with excitement.

While I’m at it I’m also looking for replacement fog lights too.

Thanks,
David

should be part no 63127165690 I'm not sure about any differences in number between lhd and rhd but that throws up some for sale if you google that number

The garage I bought it from is 150miles away so it’s easier for me to get a replacement unit and fit it than sending off the unit for them to fix and send back. The garage will likely fix it up and sell it on anyway (if not then I will once it’s off the car), but I want to avoid being headlight’less’ for a couple of weeks.

Those look like xenons to me (I see headlight washers). So you'll pay a premium for that, because they aren't very common at all!

That’s what I’ve been worried about Kis, I don’t want to spend what will be a decent chunk of money on the wrong piece of kit. Thanks.

Going rate for second hand xenon units is around £5-600 per side! I’ve been on the lookout for months.

I had the condensation issue too - largely resolved by removing the headlight to fully drain it out and ordered new rear cover seals and it’s been perfect since.

Plastic lens is still pitted though, hence me looking for decent replacements.

Good luck!

are they not halogens with one bulb projector one bulb non projector? my e86 has headlight washers but i'm almost certain I don't have xenons?

xenons have no leveling system on the light module, as per this photo:

halogens have two "wheels" - one adjusts the level of the light output. This is automatic on xenons.

Sometimes people choose to spec it with washers and no xenons. It's quite rare tho, hence the general rule of thumb that if you have washers, you've probably got xenons :)

If you're in doubt check using a vin checking site? This will tell you what options are on the car (assuming it's still original).

Thanks everyone, I don’t have the dial for adjusting the beam level (it doesn’t this automatically on start up) so it sounds safe to assume that I have Xenons. Great for illumination, sticker for replacing.

I tried using the VIN Decoders to help identify the light type but nothing came up relating to the specific lights.

Have you tried realoem with your (last 7 digits of) vin number?

I would guess that all xenon headlights off a facelift z are the same part number though...

I got this from realoem (what a great website by the way!), so it looks like it is part number 63127165688.

It looks like there are a few options around the £450 mark, which is a shed load better than the bi-xenon I had to buy for my 535d.

Probably, but you might be able to 100% double check with a dealer’s parts department. Indeed, they should be able to tell you the part number based on your chassis number AND sometimes their prices surprise you (granted, that works both ways - crazy cheap or crazy expensive ha!)
