2005 Z4 Shift Knob

Hello All!

I have a 2005 Z4, tan interior, auto. I need to replace the shift knob as the color has worn thru and looks terrible.

The OE knob has a release button on the front that needs to be engaged in order to shift into gear....

A new BMW OE knob is 118.00 at the dealer. As I look at alternatives, I find many nice looking knobs (not OE), but they dont have the release button on them.

Will these non OE knobs work? How would they work with no release button? I must be missing something??? Any advice, direction is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Bob

Do you have an ejector seat or something?!

Can't say I've heard of a release button...? Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along here to help you soon :)

The button/trigger is to stop you changing gear by mistake

Not sure about fitting a non OEM without the button/trigger
