Quite possibly the laziest for sale ad ever
And a lady owner called scooterboy!
Best of luck with the sale.

The advert is detailed and it is my wife’s car, sorry if it doesn’t meet with your approval, but it’s an honest car and an honest advertisement.

Welcome to the forum OP

The feedback on the ad is reflective of it being your first post and it’s a link to another platform- which isn’t in the spirit of the forum. First post to try to sell your car will always elicit some negativity.

It may be worth taking time to write a decent ad for the forum.

Good luck with sale and if it doesn’t sell- maybe stick around a while?

Welcome to the forum. I would perhaps get out the screwdriver, or double-sided tape, and fix the rear number plate, it is slightly hanging down on one side. Good luck with the sale.

Ok, thank you for the advice, it is appreciated. As a new member I couldn’t work out the best way to upload the photos of the car. Rightly or wrongly I felt that the Autotrader add gave a fully detailed description and representation of the car. We are not desperate to sell the car as we really love it, but as we are both suffering from the aches and strains our mature years bring, we have advertised it as we don’t feel it will get the use in the coming years that it needs and deserves. One of my customers recommended this forum to me, I felt that anyone who shares our enthusiasm for the Z4 would be a member of this type of forum and hence the car would find a good home. If there isn’t any interest, we fortunately have the capacity to keep it and are more than happy to do so. I am sorry if my post has caused offence to long standing members, it was certainly not my intention, so if admins of the forum would prefer that I remove the post from the forum I will obviously do so.

No offence taken or intended. You are very welcome on this forum as a Z4 owner. Hopefully you will be able to introduce yourself and your car in the New Member’s section.

To repeat my post from May, in the spirit of the forum…

…..”a first post should not be allowed to be a for sale ad. this dude is not joining the forum, just using it for free advertising. Maybe after signing up, making a basic introduction, there should be say a month before you can post any kind of for sale ad or link…..probably too difficult to police but I do find it irritating.
Alternatively in cases such as this there should be a fee for the advert / plug that can go towards the upkeep of the forum?”

Thing is though, not everyone who does that is simply trying to sell a vehicle.
Sometimes it is an owner who has cherished their car and wants it to go to a good home. Naturally they would seek out a forum such as this.

I am not sure how easy it would be to block the 'For Sale' part for a set number of posts etc, but even then you could simply post it in a different section.

In this case I believe the poster seems genuine. Usually the chancers get antsy straight away, but this person has politely continued the conversation.

I have no idea what the answer is, but I think rather than the first reply being a dig, it could be made a polite welcome with an equally polite request that the seller interact with the forum with at least a little introduction.

I completely agree and apologise to OP. It was intended to be a humorous dig, not a critical one, but sometimes wine blurs the line

I am sorry that my post has caused such an issue within the forum, it was not my intention. My wife has had this car for about 12 years, it has been well looked after, but since Covid, my wife has been working from home, so very little mileage goes on the car. We have advertised the vehicle on Autotrader, but after being made aware of this forum, I shared the advert as we would like to think that the car could go to someone who will look after it and enjoy the car as much as we have done. But as I have said, we are not desperate to sell the car, so if it doesn’t sell, we will I am sure be very appreciative of the help and advice that comes from an owners forum such as this one. I have other classic vehicles, Scooters and Motorcycles and I am a member of several clubs and forums and value the feedback, advice, discussions and friendly banter, whilst also sharing my experiences. Sadly over the last 12 months, my health in particular has been an issue and this has affected my mobility. I am not looking for sympathy, it is just a situation that has meant that we have had to focus on what is best for us in the years ahead. As such, I know I will struggle with the Z4, but equally I am sure one of our grandchildren will be happy to have the car at some point in the future. I would say, whilst comments have been varied, hostility towards a new member, on the level so far saddens a long in the tooth petrol head.

Don’t worry matey- you’ve taken it on the chin-

Enjoy the forum we are a decent lot on the whole!

Good luck with the sale

The thing is, the Op could have at least added some words to his post rather than just stick the link on there, at least it would have looked like some sort of effort was made to introduce himself / the car.

Anyway GLWTS
