2004 Z4 Space saver Wheel

Hi can somebody put me straight, can I use a 16" Space Saver Wheel safely with my 2004 Z4 2.2i which is fitted with 18" Ellipsoid Alloys, all help appreciated

No, I dont think so.
I think I read somewhere that a 17" is as small as you can go in order to clear the callipers. I believe that Volvo spare wheels will fit though !

I wait to stand corrected (as said the man in the orthopedic shoes !)

I think they would be a pain in the arse to carry around all the time. The question is, do you go that far from home that that you couldn't call family or a friend to come and rescue you, or even bring the spare out to you ?

Most people carry the puncture repair kit and a pump, to limp to the nearest garage. I think I would take a wheel if I was touring abroad alone, but if with another car/mate I'm sure we'd sort it between us.

All depends what support you have, I suppose.

A 17 inch space saver will fit on the car... But doesn't it need to be 18 inch like the wheels ?

Not if it has a higher profile tyre to equal out the overall diameter.

Good point. I don't know if a 16" will fit over 2.2 brakes, but 17" will definitely fit.

I hope a Volvo 17" does fit just bought one £30 on Ebay always handy to have in garage, flying from Heathrow soon might take it just in case.

the si models have larger brakes so will possibly need a larger wheel still to give enough clearance?
regards

just tried the 17" Volvo space saver on my 2008 3.0 Si and it doesn't fit. It clears the brakes OK but wont fit over the centre spigot. the centre of the wheel is just a little too small to go over the centre of the hub. Sh*te. I know other people has fitted them on 3.0 e85 i wonder if the hubs are different.
