2004 E85 No Navigation Voice Instructions

Has anybody had an issue with no speech coming out the Navigation system? I have ensured that the Navigation volume is turned up high in the config screen and ensured that instructions are turned on in the Navigation menu.

One thing that I'm concerned about is that somebody at some time in the past has fitted an AUX in socket and may have disturbed something or not integrated it correctly.

The other thing is that the Bluetooth phone connection pairs with my phone and then controls the phone (you can instigate and answer a call), however the audio comes out of the phone. I just wonder if this issue is connected to the lack of Navigation instructions?

I would also like to know where the amplifier is, as I would assume that the Navigation system inputs it's audio stream to the amp and the amp simply outputs to the speakers so I need to look at the interconnect between the two.

Ultimately I realise that the system is legacy, there is no Bluetooth audio streaming facility and it's nothing like a modern system, but I would like to fix it as the car is a cracking example, it's standard factory equipment and I do like a challenge lol! Any help the esteemed owners of this forum can offer, would be greatly appreciated.

NB. I was looking at the Grom Bluetooth CDC emulation unit, but I don't want to start installing that and changing anything until I've go to the bottom of the Navigation Audio issue.

Found the issue. The aux audio socket that has been installed used a socket on the back of the head unit that was obviously needed by the Navigation DVD to input audio into the head unit. There was a pug floating around at the back of the head unit. Removed the AUX socket plug and replaced it with the one floating about and all is well. Now I need to sort out the correct audio lead.

Negative, it's a grey manual bog standard 3.0 SE, but does have a good spec.

Ta - just wondered, as my Dad had exactly the same problem in his car, which was sold last year without sorting it. He also had an aftermarket aux lead, got to be the same issue.

Glad you've got an answer
