2003 z4 whistling noise from engine??

i have a 2003 z4 2.5i. I toke it for a drive to the beach yesterday since it was pretty hot out. On my way back I noticed that its making a whistling noise when pressing the gas.Its a high pitch sound. Even when im at a red light I can still hear it, its will last for 5 seconds then go away then come right back. Does anybody know what this could be?

Cracked intake pipe most likely. I had the same and it was around £60 for the part. You could probably fit yourself.

Have a look at the intake pipe and feel if there are any gaps etc

where would this pipe be located?

Near the front of the engine bay, just behind the airbox

I toke a look at it, and it seems like the noise is coming from the belt pully. not 100% sure but that is were i think the sound is coming from. Is there any test i can do to see if i got a bad pully?

Hi,

only test for the pulley that I know of is to take off the belt and spin it by hand !, could it be a sqeaky belt ?, put a lot of load on the belt by turning lights, blower,heated rear screen & A/C etc. if it gets worse it's a loose or sqeaky belt ??

im deff going to try that as soon as i get out of work. Does anyone know where i can get a detailed guild on replacing the belts on a 2003 z4 2.5i?

I wouldn't mind a guide on changing the belts either TBH, it looks proper easy but I'd just like to check...
