2003 z4 head unit problem

Hi just joined today : ) I've owned a 3.0 Z4 for 9 months now and have my first problem.
As normal everything was working ok now the sat nav only opens when u use the switch on the right hand side of the sat nav screen it displays the right time and date with the option on screen for computer sat nav ect but non of the stereo buttons work to operate it not even the cd eject botton it's all dead? The cars been parked up for a week as I own a e46 330 sport convertible as well so use them for a week each in turn : ) I've checked the boot for water leaks and alls good so can anybody help me please. So in a nutshell the screen works but nothing else ???? Many thanks Allen.
 
Possibly a fuse, I'd have thought the nav would be on a different one to the stereo (although I don't know for sure)

That's the first place I'd start
 
Thank u m8 iam with bimmerfest forum with the 330 also : ) one other thing is I didn't get a manual with my car so do u know what fuse number row it is on the board please. Thanks Allen

have you got any further with this? i have very similar problems.

i get in the car, the screen pop up and freezes dead. sometimes the buttons work sometimes they dont. often i can change the station via the steering wheel but its any guess to what its on.

its most certainly not a fuse as i checked them all.

i narrowed it down to two situations.
1. Ive been using the intravee for my iphone, the radio is on the intravee screen but there is nothing there so it sort of gets stuck waiting for the response from the intravee.
2. the nav causes it. My nav is on its way out. i works great in warm weather but as soon as it cools down bit i get the "no disc" error. you can hear it spinning the dvd etc and trying to work but getting nowhere. since ive taken the dvd out of the nav its not happened. must be nearly a month.

if you search back for my thread i asked about it. no one really had an idea. it was about then i took the dvd out. at the time it was freezing with incresed frequency at least once a week or more.
