I ve had the dreaded red airbag light investigated and it seems the left B pillar sensor is faulty. BMW has no date for replacement modules and I can’t find a used one anywhere. Is anyone aware if these modules can be successfully repaired and can suggest a company that could do it in the UK?

Welcome to the forum.
Is this a pre-facelift?
What part number module do you need?
We can put it into Realoem and find all the compatible numbers for you, then see if anyone has one.
Whereabouts in the country are you?
Possibly someone nearby who can help with supplying, fitting, coding, or all three.
Do not despair. :D

Thank you. Yes, it’s pre-facelift. The module number is 65 77 6933985 (left side B pillar airbag sensor). I’m in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk

Well then, any of these that say 'Exchangeable Retrospectively' will do.

I'm afraid I don't have any at the moment, but if I do a shout out to [ref]umfaan[/ref], [ref]bigwinn[/ref] and [ref]street[/ref], they may have one for you.
I'm not far away in Attleborough and more than happy to help you fit it, update the VIN, system time etc.

Wow! That’s brilliant. Thank you 😊
Sadly bigwinn is out. Waiting on the other two to get back to me.
Failing that, try the fb groups. Look for Maz Cool or David Jackson.
If you give them the full list of acceptable ones they should be able to dig one out for you.

Bolting a new one in is pretty easy, but the coding faff to set the correct VIN etc took me a while to learn, with a lot of help from other forum members.
Only this week I resolved an issue with the centre module for a girl in Norwich. A certain 'specialist' in Coltishall wanted to charge her £1100 to fit a brand new module but it finally transpired the plug was knackered too and they hadn't noticed. £50 for a second-hand module, a patient wait while I got my head around the software, a few grateful beers passed my way and she's sorted. :D

Hiya. I’ve heard from David Jackson and he has the follow modules - 65 77 6940299, 65 77 6962887, 65 77 6953009. Are any of those compatible? If so, I’ll get them and take up your offer to have them fitted and coded

Replied to your pm.
Sadly they are not compatible. I checked each number into Realoem to be sure.

Thank you. That’s very kind of you
Put a wanted on the forum, with a copy of that list I got and fingers crossed you may get one.

As always, if you get one from eBay you don't know if it's been in an accident and been locked.
Depends on price and returns policy I guess?

I have exactly the same issue with 2004 E85.
Both of my airbag sensors were corroded beyond saving. I had the expensive replaced but the B pillar sensor is not available anywhere. My specialist repaired days BMW have none in the UK. No new ones will be made until the order is big enough.
I'm told second hand is not an option(coding issues etc).
The part number of the unit is 6577 6962 888
Any ideas guys?

Wow! Thanks 👏. I’ll check these. Hopefully something will turn up. I collected the Z this morning from the garage that were investigating. The report is quite detailed but it is beyond my limits.

Hi again. I’m assuming bilaterally exchangeable means a right b pillar module can be used on the left?
No, they are different configurations.
Bilaterally means you can swap new for old and old for new.

These RH ones are no good for your LH side.

Sorry for my ignorance, but do you run a Zed business? I wonder if it might be worth you looking at my Z to see what the nature and scale of the problem is. I’d include a picture of the report I got, but I don’t know to load pictures into messages

No I don't run a business. The title is a bit of a laugh, but I do a lot of work on them and happy to look, but from what you've already said it seems a straightforward case of fitting a new module and then coding it to the car.
