2003 bmw z4 93db sim85 undefined status

Looking for some insight. Ive got 2 codes to go off of. One off a matco professional scanner and one off inpa. Both relatively the same issue, inpa is showing 93db failure to connect to sim85 module, and the matco is showing 93db sim control unit undefined status. Looking through forums here and across Google ive looked at anything and everything that could be the issue the airbag module looks dry and well kept no obvious shorts. A local bmw specialist shop is claiming I need a new module can anyone give me insight on how I go about getting one as it's a discontinued part through bmw and the other issue I have is my z4 is imported to Canada from Japan and i cannot find any information on if north amercan airbag modules will work in place of japanese modules. This is the last and final hurdle I have to get over before this car is able to go through an out of province inspection any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Also need info on the differences in color in connection of the main harness. Mines green but all i come across on ebay is yellow pictures below mine taken apart rn to inspection caps and look for water damage.

Get your oem codes of the sim85 up and see if someone has one over here that has one to sell.

However that is just the first hurdle- the coding is the next, either by yourself or someone with the software and experience

Well looks like I've found one. Had a friend of a friend that lives in Japan sourced me one and is shipping it estimated to get here by the end of April. I'll be back then, thanks everyone for the help so far. Can't wait to progress this further

Alright guys, so I've got a different airbag module I'm going to install it this weekend anyone have a "how to for dummy's" on pairing it to my vin? I have ncsexpert INPA and some other bmw orientated tools but this is way above my expertise and when it comes to the software side I'm fairly basic with it.

Most of us have had more success using the 'alternative' WinKFP step at the bottom of page one.

New issue the k+dcan cable won't recognize on my laptop that it previously worked on no problem. I'm left scratching my head as nothing has changed with the laptop. Tested the cable in my desktop it shows up in my device manager fine. Any ideas as to what's going on. Ive searched tons of forums and come up dry.

I had the same issue and I’d knocked the switch over on the cable

Yea i tried that but it's like my computer doesn't even see it. No usb plug in noise not showing in device manager. Ive tried manually adding it through legacy software. Nothing has seemed to work so far and it has me baffled

Just double check.
I unscrewed mine and the connections were loose.

Checked them and they're fine board on the inside of the obd port looks fine. I'm re-exploring driver issues anyone got anything I might be missing? For record right now i have a fresh installed windows 10 home edition on my laptop I reset everything to factory and according to manufacturer instructions on my k+dcan cable i should be able to just plug it in and it self install the drivers. I did get a disk that came with it but any of the driver software isn't being recognized as driver software. Pictures below. I'd have screen capped them but this laptop is like 10 years old and would take me twice the time to upload them.

So ive been working at this for longer than I'd like to admit. I'm at a wall with it if anyone would be interested in doing it remotely I'd be willing to pay for it. Let me know im beyond frustrated with this car.
