2 Series Active Tourer

In showrooms today.

Went to see it. Such poor quality for BMW and it does nothing the competition hasn't done for years. I could have been sat in a VW with all the scratchy plastic around.

So, No.

I did however sit in a white 6 Gran Coupe and have decided to sell a kidney.

Of course if your into rear wheel drive sportiness then I don't see how the Active Tourer would appeal  , but no reason to knock it. It looks absolutely fine to me and fulfills a niche missing from BMWs line up.

If I was after a MPV type of car it would be on my shopping list :)

You've seen it in the flesh then Tim? What did you think if it?

Yepp I had a look earlier this month when popped into the dealer to collect some Performance goodies. Think it was a 118d Luxury spec and I thought it was OK but as par the course splash the cash if you want the interior to look nice, the demo I looked at was a little dour. I was seriously contemplating one of these to replace the Zed but didn't want to wait until Sept delivery and the deals on the M135i last May were too good to ignore so went with the 1 Series. Aren't they built on the MINI platform so should be reasonably decent to drive. Haven't driven one though.

BMW advertised the tourer on Facebook and took a nice slating, ugly, front wheel drive sacrealage etc, the usual dumb comments from people who would never buy BMW anyways. To me its a nice looking practical car which I imagine will be bought by people who already own a 1 Series who need the extra space, versatility etc. From what I know a high percentage of BMW owners think their motor is front wheel drive anyways

Doesn't help those of us that know and like we are driving rear wheel drive cars though.

I can't really see where all of the negative sentiment comes from about it being FWD. It's only one model out of range that is overwhelmingly RWD.

Nobody got up in arms when they did 4WD?

But would it matter if it was front drive on an MPV?
