2.5si to 3.0si engine conversion?

Can anyone advise on how big a job this would be? I would imagine the N52B30 is just a bigger version of the B25 right? I want more power and from the research I've done, you can't get a hell of allot more out of these engines with modifications.

Don't bother, just buy one. Unless the project is specifically to learn how it can be done.

The N52 doesn't have much out there in terms of mods. If you have the desire for power and cash to burn then I think the S65 fits and has been done once.

This exactly .

Same size engine should just unbolt and bolt back in nuts n bolts wise fairly simple.

The ECU might be a different matter completely! If the ECU is just changeable and you can buy a good engine from a trusted source. And then sell yours and you do the work yourself because you enjoy it. Then have a try. If your not doing it yourself and you don't enjoy this type of thing. Sell and buy a 3.0si or pre facelift 3.0l and supercharge it loads more options and power if you can live with orange indicators??

No its more than just the crank. Also connecting rods, different cam etc.
So if you can get an n52b30 from a z4 with ecu cheap than its probably doable, but the ews must be aligned with the ecu (anti theft). Or a retune in the original ecu.
But if you must pay someone for the hours, it'll add up really fast.

Right so general consensus is a no-go as I wouldn't be doing it myself...don't have the time really.

What is it about these engines that they cannot be modified?

What about ECU remaps etc? Anyone had any success with that?

The problem is normally aspirated engines see very small gains with a remap, they just don't have a lot more to give!
I've never found my 3.0si lacking on the road, there's always something in the way

Not at all i have gingers and i like them. I cant see the point in changing them.

Badly worded but i was basically saying if you want power an m54 is a much better option. The only down side is the gingers. If you worry about that sort of thing!!

I was meaning that it is easier safer to add forced induction to man m54 than a n54.

ECU remaps are a mixed opinion on N/A cars. You will get a little more and maybe more drive able. But dont expect to much

Mr. Wilks found his 3.0si lacking this weekend when he was behind Lynchy. And Mr. Wilks knows the roads unlike the epileptic polecat he was following.

I meant under normal use, not F1 qualifying conditions
