2.0i to 2.5si, and now a Dension question...

I've just sold my 2.0i and upgraded to a rather nice 2.5si (what a difference!) and have set about installing my Dension 300 Gateway out of my old car.

The new car has a cd changer, but no phone prep. When you select the cd changer the music on the usb stick starts playing yet after a couple of seconds it reverts back to FM radio. If there is a disk in the cd changer, the first track on the usb stick plays and stays on, but you have no control over it.

Am I missing something obvious in telling the stereo that I want it to ignore the cd changer and just use the Gateway 300? Anyone had a similar problem?

You need to disconnect the changer at the changer I believe.

That's what you had to do with other Dension stuff like IceLink Plus that I had.

A rather predictable question now, how on earth do you get to behind the cd changer to disconnect it?!

Open the boot, undo the screw clips that hold the carpet in place on the rear bulkhead and you'll see it clearly.

You might need to make a small cut in the carpet to get the cubby hole release through it. I did but if you're careful you'll never notice. The carpet lifts from the bottom up.

This, but if you have a newer face model they don't have the cord for the cubby release. My old 2.5si didn't.
 
Thanks for your help! Removed the carpet and the cables to unplug were easily accessible through an access panel, Gateway now working fine!

Do you have nav? If so I'd be interested to see a pic of the screen while you're using it to see what the integration is like

Looking at the dension website it works the same way as the one I had. The display on nav is good (assuming this still displays ID3 tags) but you are limited to 5 play lists using radio buttons 1-5, 6 is for setup.

Can't remember if you can browse by artist or album. I think you can but always used playlists so wasnt an issue.
